Sankranthi- Role of Unity and Joy

Sankranthi-Festival of Joy and Unity ​​​​​

​​​​​Sankranthi,which is also referred to as Pongal,is a great festival of India.It's a harvest season and new beginnings.What makes Sankranthi unique is that it unites people.
Sharing and Caring :
During Sankranthi people used to share sweets and other foods.This tradition brings in good will,friendship,and harmony.In Maharashtra ,people greet each other saying "Tighul ghya,god god bola,"which means "Take tilgul and speak sweet words.
​​​​​Joyful Commemoration:
Sankranthi is much more than food; it also includes cultural activities.In ,people fly kites together.In Tamil Nadu,people cook a special dish under the open sky and offer it to the sun god.All such activities develop bondings between the people and increase social cohesion.
Social Cohesion:It is the time for Sankranthi,family reunions, and reconnecting  ​​​​​​​with friends and neighbours.The people gather together to perform rituals,clean homes,and light bonfires.It is an opportunity to break away from busy lives and participate in community celebrations.
Unity in  ​​​​​Diversity:
Sankranthi is celebrated by people from different backgrounds,religions,and regions.Despite the differences,the core idea of the festival remains the same.The diversity creates an opportunity to learn from each other and appreciate richness of India's culture.
Giving Back to Community :
Sankranthi is also a time of giving back to community.People donate food,clothes,and money for those in need.This sense of social responsibility encourages people to help others.
Conclusion:Sankranthi is a festival that brings people together in ​​​​​​​unity ,Joy and social connection.It strengthens community bonds and promotes social responsibility.Through the celebration of Sankranthi,we celebrate not only the harvest but also the spirit of community that binds us all.
