Belief-Astra

Never heard of Beliefastra right!! Sounds strange? We have heard of Nagastra, Varunastra, Garudastra, Pashupatastra and popular well-known Brahmastra (a big banner Bollywood movie is on cards with Ranbir as the protagonist), each Astra has its own significance and effect. Let’s first define or understand what Astra means.

As per Hindu Mythology, an Astra is a supernatural weapon invoked by mantras to add the energy of a specific deity. It is infused with spiritual and occult powers to make it a very powerful weapon.

These astras were used in ancient days during the Mahabharat and Ramayana period. In today’s world, we are definitely in need of some astras which destroy and eradicate the worries, concerns, and ambiguities around us and help us get on top of all these issues, and help us retain our peace of mind. One such astra is “BELIEF”.
This weapon called Belief is so powerful that it can win against the greatest of opposition. People believe in GOD, loved ones, humanity, their own abilities, hard work, learnings, goals, and dreams. This list never ends and it goes on. But we do realize that it works at times and sometimes it doesn’t. Did you ever think about why you fail at some things even when you had full faith/belief in them?
To get an answer to this, we need to understand the architecture and the dynamics of the system called ‘Belief’.
First, we look into the architectural aspect. Consider Belief as a tabletop resting on a few legs. The stability of this top is definitely based on the strength of the legs. Each leg will define some evidence that will make your belief stronger and more impactful.

  • One is the repeated number of occurrences of the event which makes you believe in that thing or Person or Event or Process. For example, in a chemistry lab experiment if 1/4th of a solution is mixed with 2/3rd of another solution will always form another specific solution.
  • The next is the amount of hard work you put in, for example, if you practice playing a certain shot say a reverse sweep for a long period, then you certainly believe that you can execute that shot in a match situation, as you practiced it enough.
  • Another is based on people's expectations of you or the event you are performing, for example, people always admire you as an artist as they knew that your parents and family are good at fine arts, which sits on our minds and it helps us to grow and believe ourselves to be a good artist.

These are a few of the cases/scenarios/evidence which will make us believe firmly and helps us to achieve success.
Revisiting the previous question – “Why do we fail even after having a firm belief in an event” considering that your belief is intact and rock-solid like the tabletop. In this aspect, the problem lies with one of the legs which are not as strong as the other legs or in other words - dysfunctional. The logical solution to address this issue is to fix the leg, repair or strengthen or replace it which will once again bring stability to the tabletop and this time it will not fall down or let you down.
Self-belief can be defined as confidence in your own skin, abilities, or judgment. It is a person’s belief in their ability to complete tasks and achieve their goals. Judging yourself to be capable of success increases your chances of actual success. It is well known that self-belief also contributes to mental wellbeing. Self-belief is such an important quality to have, as without the ability to believe in your own worth and actions you may struggle to reach your full potential. Hence “Self-Belief’ is the true Brahmastra to eradicate all problems.
To end, there are various great thoughts shared by famous people on Belief like “Belief can move mountains”, “Man is made by his belief. As he believes so he is”. But my personal favorite is “Belief is a magic key that unlocks your dreams”.
