1️⃣ NDA (National Defence Academy) – UPSC

🏛️ What is NDA?

The National Defence Academy is the joint services training academy of the Indian Armed Forces. It trains cadets for the Army, Navy, and Air Force together before they go on to pre-commission training at their respective academies.

It’s the first step for many to become commissioned officers in the Indian Defence Services.

  • Wings: Army, Navy & Air Force

  • Eligibility: Class 12 pass (PCM required for Navy & Air Force)

  • Age: 16.5 to 19.5 years (both boys and girls)

  • Selection:

    • NDA Written Exam (by UPSC)

    • SSB Interview

    • Medical Test

  • Training:

    • 3 years at NDA, Khadakwasla

    • 1 year at respective service academy

 TES (Technical Entry Scheme) – Indian Army

The Technical Entry Scheme (TES) is a prestigious opportunity offered by the Indian Army for young, unmarried male candidates who have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and possess a valid JEE Mains score. This entry allows candidates to join the Indian Army as commissioned officers through a 4-year B.Tech program in military engineering colleges like CTC Mhow, MCEME Secunderabad, and ECE Pune. Upon successful training, candidates are granted the rank of Lieutenant and join the Indian Army’s technical cadre. TES is ideal for students who are technically inclined and wish to serve the nation with engineering excellence.
  • Eligibility:

    • 60%+ in PCM in Class 12

    • Valid JEE Mains Score

  • Age: 16.5 to 19.5 years

  • Selection:

    • Direct SSB shortlisting

    • Medical exam

  • Training:

    • 4-year B.Tech from Army-affiliated institutions

3️⃣ Indian Navy B.Tech Entry

A Prestigious Route to Serve the Nation Through Engineering Excellence

The Indian Navy B.Tech Entry Scheme is a special recruitment program for unmarried male candidates who have completed Class 12 with PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and hold a valid JEE Mains score. This entry allows selected candidates to pursue a 4-year B.Tech degree in one of the engineering branches at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, fully sponsored by the Navy.

Applicants must be between 17 to 19.5 years of age and are shortlisted based on their JEE Mains All India Rank (AIR). The selection process includes SSB interviews and a medical examination. After successful completion of training, candidates are commissioned as Sub-Lieutenants in the Executive or Technical branches of the Indian Navy. This entry is ideal for academically bright students who aspire to combine a career in engineering with honourable service in the Indian Navy.

  • Eligibility: Class 12 (PCM) + JEE Main

  • Gender: Male

  • Selection: Shortlisting → SSB Interview → Medical

  • Training: B.Tech at Indian Naval Academy

4️⃣ Agniveer Entry (Army, Navy, Air Force)

A New Era of Short-Term Service with Long-Term Opportunities
The Agniveer Entry is a new recruitment initiative launched under the Agnipath Scheme by the Government of India in 2022, aimed at youth empowerment and modernizing the armed forces. This scheme allows young men and women aged 17.5 to 21 years to serve in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force for a period of 4 years as Agniveers.
  • Scheme: Agnipath

  • Age: 17.5 to 21 years

  • Eligibility: 10th/12th/ITI/Diploma (Varies by trade)

  • Selection:

    • Physical Test

    • Written Exam

    • Medical

  • Tenure: 4 years (25% retained for regular cadre)

1️⃣ CDS (Combined Defence Services) – UPSC

Your Gateway to Become a Commissioned Officer After Graduation

  • Eligibility:

    • Any Graduate for Army

    • B.Tech for Navy

    • Physics & Math at 10+2 + Graduation for Air Force

  • Academies: IMA, INA, OTA, AFA

  • Selection:

    • CDS Written Exam (by UPSC)

    • SSB Interview

    • Medical

2️⃣ AFCAT – Indian Air Force

  • Branches: Flying, Ground Duty (Tech & Non-Tech)

  • Eligibility:

    • Graduation with 60%+

    • B.E/B.Tech for Technical

  • Selection:

    • AFCAT exam

    • AFSB Interview

    • Medical

    • Graduation with 50%+

    • NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Senior Division)

  • Age: 19 to 25 years

  • Selection: Direct SSB + Medical
