Tips and Strategies for JEE Chemistry : Anuradha  Tenneti 

JEE Mains is the most important exam for an engineering aspirant. It forms the gateway into the top IIT’S and NIT’S.

    Chemistry is the most scoring subject between the 3 sections of the paper. Therefore to score maximum in chemistry some important tips are to be followed.

IMPORTANT BOOKS:

  1. NCERT Text Book
  2.   NCERT Exemplar.

IMPORTANT TOPICS:

            In chemistry some topics are evergreen. Questions from these topics are asked every year.

PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY:

  • Stoichiometry, Solid State, Solutions, Thermodynamics, Gaseous State and Equilibrium are important topics
  • Students should practice maximum numerical from these topics.

ORGANIC CHEMISTRY:

  • General organic chemistry, Alkenes, Benzene, Carbonyl Compounds, and Organic compounds with Nitrogen are important topics.
  • Students must practice Reaction mechanism, reagents and name reactions regularly.
  • Acidic and Basic strengths of Compounds are regularly asked.

INORGANIC CHEMISTRY:

  • P block elements, metallurgy, d & f block elements Complex Compounds are very important topics.
  • Students should make proper plan to read inorganic chemistry regularly.

Direct Questions from NCERT book is asked for the topics. Students must prepare these topics directly from the books.

  • Polymers
  • Bio molecules
  • Surface Chemistry
  • Environmental Chemistry
  • Chemistry in Everyday life


MAKING NOTES:

  • Making notes from NCERT book especially for Inorganic Chemistry is must.
  • Read book word by word to make notes
  • Practice the points regularly
  • During revision it is highly useful

HOW TO PRACTICE:

  • Make a fixed time table and study regularly.
  • After preparing each topic from text book and notes practice large number of numericals especially in physical chemistry.
  • Prepare charts of formulas in physical and reagents in organic chemistry and practice them regularly.
  • At the end of each topic do not forget to practice questions asked in previous mains papers.
  • This will improve your skills and develop your approach to handle a question.
  • It also helps you to know the latest trend and complexity of a questions based on a given concept.

EXAM TIME:

  • To improve speed and accuracy attempt at least one Mock Test Paper / day.
  • Students must focus on solving the questions where they are confident to avoid negative markings.
