AI Impact on Jobs

Unleashing the Power of AI: Job Market Dynamics (AI shrinks large set of jobs to 4), Skill Reshaping, and New Opportunities

Dear Friends and Students

Recently I had an opportunity to present my views on “AI Impact on Jobs: Transformations, Opportunities, and Future Skills” at Andhra Pradesh Training and Placements Organization Capacity Building Conclave.

I shared my opinion. You may agree or disagree but my gut says, "The Rise of AI is going to shape the Future of Work and Skills Needed for Success!!" You may read the following or alternatively, you may watch this YouTube video - https://youtu.be/yEdE7lUg3xg

Will we lose jobs to AI?

The True answer is Yes if we don’t know how to Tame it.
But The Answer is No if we know how to Term it.

Yes, the World of opportunities would be shrinking into 4 categories
1. Entrepreneurs (2%-3%)
2. Domain and Technology Experts who contribute immensely to tuning and training the Massive Language Model Tuners (7% to 8%)
3. Prompt Engineers (30% to 40%)
4. AI Application Users (50% to 60%)

AI Tsunami is approaching quickly. If we look at some of the trends, it is clearly evident
--Until 2014- Academia, academia was working on Machine Learning Models. However, since 2022, Industry produced 22, and Academia 3! Imagine how big the usage and commercialization are!
--From 2019 to 2022 30+LLMs Launched and China released China Bilingual LLM (2022)
--AI Starts to build AI, proven by Nvidia. AI Reinforcement Learning Agent to improve chip design to power AI
--AI Became a Pair Programmer. GitHub Copilot experimented with 95 developers. Without Copilot 70% completion rate of the task and 161 mins to complete, with Copilot, 78% and 71 mins with 56% Productivity!
--Since 2022, 50% of companies adopted AI in at least 1 function
--Since 2011, North America AI Ph.D. Jobs Industry 40.9%, Academia 41.6%. Since 2021, Industry 65.4% and Academia 28.2%

How do these trends impact jobs?

What would happen to Mediocre Doctors? Their job is at Threat.
--No More Traditional Average Surgeons are Needed, as Hugo™ RAS system took that job! Robo-Assisted Surgery Made Simple
--No More Average Oncologists Needed, Sybil: A Validated Deep Learning Model to Predict Future Lung Cancer Risk.AI powered Cancer Detection tool Does it
--No More Specialists in Ophthalmology, Google’s Automated Retinal Disease Assessment make it
--No More Basic General Physicians are required, Medical Tricorder monitors 13 medical conditions including anemia, leukemia, etc or Scanadu does it.

What would happen to Mediocre Management and HR Professionals? Their job is at Threat.
--No More HRs or Technical Interviewers Needed, Engligence Technology Labs/ skill2030.com,AI-Powered Metaverse-based Total Interview Automation Platform/HRTech Engine developed 3 years back.
--No More Letter Drafting Team Needed, Jasper does it perfectly
--No More Accountants with MBA/CA/ICWA!, Zoho Books does it
--No More Marketing Team Needed, MarketMuse Does it

You might say, Software Engineer Role is safe! It is not!
--App development- Zoho Creates
--Code Generation- Copilot or AWS Codewishper or OpenAI Codex
--Bug Detection – Deep Code
--Code Optimization - Kite
--Testing – Testim.IO, generates the test and detects the regression
--Documentation – Huggingface Transformers
--From a Data Science perspective -Data Preparation, Feature Engineering, Model Selection, Hyper Parameter Tuning, Predictive Modelling by Data Robo, Tensorflow, etc
--Project Management by Asana
--Infra Provision by Terraform

Then what skill we need to impart to students in the Universities!!

We need to create more opportunities for the students to showcase their Creativity, Intuitiveness, Problem Solving, and Design Thinking!! These 4 skills are highly needed for Prompt Engineering Jobs which is going to be Massive Future Requirement and Recruitment!!

Now or Never, Decide!!
